Chief Warrant Officer 5 Richard W. Godfrey

Senior Warrant Officer Advisor

Chief Warrant Officer 5 Richard Godfrey has 22 years of Active Duty Service with 18 years as a Warrant Officer. He graduated from Otterbein College in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature. He worked as an Advertising Account Executive until enlisting in the Army in 2002 as a UH-60 Helicopter Repairer (15T). After his first deployment in support of OIF in 2003-2004 with 2/10 AVN, 10th MTN DIV he applied for Warrant Officer Candidate School as a 153D, UH-60 Pilot. Upon graduating flight school he was assigned to 3/1 CAB, 1st ID and deployed two more times to Iraq. After his third deployment, CW5 Godfrey switched MOS’s to 290A (170B), Electronic Warfare Technician.

Upon graduating EW WOBC he deployed a third time with 3/1 CAB, serving as the Battalion EWO and was attached to United States Division-North (USD-N), he worked for two separate Divisions during this time. After returning from his fourth deployment in support of OIF, CW5 Godfrey was assigned to Operations Group, Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC). CW5 Godfrey was the first EWO at JRTC and established the EW program. After three years and supporting 22 Brigade Combat Team rotations, CW5 Godfrey was assigned to the US Army Cyber School, Ft. Gordon, GA. Service at the Cyber Center of Excellence (CCoE) includes assignments to the US Army Cyber School, CCoE Doctrine Division, and CCoE Army Capability Manager-EW. CW5 Godfrey was then assigned as the Senior EW Technician, 8th Army Korea for one year. His most recent assignment was at US Army Central as the Sr. EW Technician.

His awards and decorations include; Army Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Air Medal, Joint Commendation Medal, and Meritorious Service Medal.

His military education includes the Primary Leadership Development Course, Warrant Officer Candidate School, Aviation Officer Basic Course, Electronic Warfare Warrant Officer Basic Course, Electronic Warfare Warrant Officer Advanced Course, Warrant Officer Intermediate Level Education, Warrant Officer Senior Service Education, Army Cyber Operations Planners Course, Joint Network Attack Course, and Joint Advanced Cyberspace Warfare Course.
