COL Ben Schneller is the Commander of 15th Signal Brigade.
Ben was born in Omaha Nebraska and raised in an Air Force family. He commissioned from the University of Portland ROTC program in 2003 as a distinguished Military Graduate. COL Schneller attended the Armor Officer Basic Course at Fort Knox where he earned the Draper Leadership award. Following his first assignment in the Republic of Korea, COL Schneller transitioned to the Signal Corps.
COL Schneller’s leadership positions include Tank Platoon Leader, Company Commander for 472nd Signal Company, Detachment Commander for Deployable Communication Detachment Alpha 2nd NATO Signal Battalion, and Battalion Commander for 2nd NATO Signal Battalion; a joint and multi-national element comprised of Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Service Members from nine Allied Nations. He has held a variety of staff positions including Battalion/Squadron Signal Officer (S6), Battalion Operations Officer (S3), Brigade Signal Officer (S6), Division Chief/Instructor US Army Signal School, Professor of Military Science at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, and Assistant Commandant at the US Army Signal School. He is a graduate of the Armor Officer Basic Course, Signal Captain Career Course, Command and General Staff College, and an Army War College Fellow at the Syracuse University Institute for Security Policy and Law. COL Schneller holds multiple advanced degrees and technical certifications. He has been stationed across the United States at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Fort Leavenworth, and Fort Gordon. His overseas service includes assignments in Korea, Alaska, and Italy, and multiple deployments in CENTCOM, EUCOM, and AFRICOM.
COL Schneller’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (2nd award), Defense Meritorious Service Medal (2nd award), Meritorious Service Medal (4th award), NATO Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (3rd award) and Army Achievement Medal (3rd award). He is authorized to wear the Meritorious Unit Citation with Oak Leaf Cluster, Parachutist Badge, Senior Army Instructor Badge, and Combat Action Badge.
COL Schneller is blessed to be married to the former Kimberlee Kendall of Grand Island, New York for more than 20 years. He and Kim are proud parents of two children
