LTC Richard L. Byrne is a native of Illinois, and a graduate of Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois. He began his military career as an Engineer Officer at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri in 2008. His first assignment was at Fort Knox, Kentucky where he held positions within the 19th Engineer Battalion including Platoon Leader, Executive Officer, Battalion Adjutant, and Battalion Assistant S3. During this time he deployed to Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan in support of the 25th Naval Construction Regiment and Marine Task Force Leatherneck.
LTC Byrne’s follow-on assignments included: Battalion S4, 35th Engineer Battalion; G33 Assistant Operations Officer, 8th Army; Company Commander, 3-34 Infantry Regiment, Battalion S3, 3-34 Infantry Regiment; and Facilities and Construction Management Officer, Army Sustainment Command.
LTC Byrne’s key Cyber assignments include: Team Leader of Expeditionary Cyber and Electromagnetic Activities (CEMA) Team 1, 915th Cyber Warfare Battalion; Battalion S3, 11th Cyber Warfare Battalion, and Cyber Branch Career Manager, Army Human Resources Command.
LTC Byrne holds a Master of Business Administration from Webster University and is a graduate of the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
Rick and his wife Alyssa have been married for 12 years and have a daughter.
