Purpose 

The Data Engineering Foundations course is designed to provide participants with a solid understanding of the principles and practices of data engineering. This course aims to equip military soldiers and personnel with the skills needed to design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines and architecture. By focusing on key concepts such as data integration, processing, and storage, the course enables participants to effectively manage data workflows, ensuring that accurate and timely data is available for analysis and decision-making. Ultimately, this foundational knowledge empowers individuals to leverage data as a strategic asset in support of mission objectives.

Course Scope 

The Data Engineering Foundations course offers a comprehensive exploration of critical data engineering concepts and practices. Participants will delve into Data Governance, Data Modeling, and Database Design to understand the structure and management of data. The curriculum also covers Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes, API integration, and Data Warehousing, providing essential skills for data pipeline development. Additionally, the course emphasizes the Practical Application of Cloud Platforms, enabling participants to implement data solutions in modern cloud environments. This scope equips learners with the foundational knowledge and skills necessary to effectively engineer data solutions that support informed decision-making and operational success.

Prerequisites

This course is for all COMPOs (Active Army, National Guard, and Army Reserve). 25A/26A/26B Officers (CPT-LTC) or 255A/255N/255S Warrant Officers (CW2-CW5) currently working in a data role in an operational unit may attend this course.
