Col. Detrick L. Ousby

Signal School Assistant Commandant

Colonel Detrick L. Ousby is a native of Jackson, Mississippi and received his commission into the Signal Corps from the University of Southern Mississippi in December, 2001 after serving four years in the Army Reserve as an enlisted soldier.
 
Colonel Ousby has served in a variety of key leadership positions throughout his 27 years of military service. In 2003 he deployed in support of Operation Iraq Freedom as a Node Center Platoon leader. He deployed to Iraq again in 2007 while serving as Company Commander of Headquarters and Headquarters Company for the 44th Expeditionary Signal Battalion.
 
As an Army Major in 2011, he served as Network Operations Officer of the 4th Signal Center followed by tours as the Battalion S3 of the 30th Signal Battalion and then Battalion S3 and Battalion Executive Officer of the 551st Signal Battalion. After his promotion to Lieutenant Colonel, Ousby served as the Army Element Deputy Commander for United States Central Command. Following that assignment, he served as Battalion Commander of the 551st Signal Battalion and later served as Deputy Brigade Commander of the 21st Signal Brigade.
 
Colonel Ousby is a graduate of the United States Army War College and was promoted to the rank of Colonel on June 1st, 2024. Colonel Ousby is also a graduate of the Signal Officer Basic Course, Signal Captains Career Course and the United States Army Command and General Staff College. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Southern Mississippi and a master’s degree in leadership from Webster University and a master’s in Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College.
 
Colonel Ousby's awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, The Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal and the Joint Meritorious Unit Award.
 
Colonel Ousby and his wife, Regina, have three children.
