Col. John J. Hosey Jr

Cyber School Commandant

Colonel John Hosey is the Army’s 6th Chief of Cyber and Commandant of the U.S. Army Cyber and Electromagnetic Warfare School headquartered in Fort Eisenhower, Georgia.
With graduation from the University of Memphis in 1999, he commissioned as a Field Artilleryman. Assignments include 82nd Airborne Division, 18th Airborne Corps, Combined Joint Task Force-180, 1/6th Cavalry Squadron, culminating his Artillery career Selected as an Information Systems Engineer his assignments include 2nd Infantry Division Headquarters and the Defense Intelligence Agency, where he was the Director for Mission Systems, Cross Domain Solutions, database Management, and Data Policy for the enterprise in the Operations Directorate.
 
In 2014 he was selected to be a founding member of what is now known as the Cyber Protection Brigade and ultimately transitioning to Cyber in 2015.

COL Hosey has held numerous positions in the cyber field including Cyber Protection Team (CPT) Lead, US Army Cyber Protection Brigade S3, National CPT Lead, Cyber National Mission Force Task Force Commander, and Joint Force Headquarters – Army J3.

Prior to joining the Cyber & Electromagnetic Warfare School, COL Hosey served as the Cyber Electronic Warfare Officer, V Corps, US Army Europe-Africa. In this position, he served as the Director of Security Cooperations, a key Line of Effort for V Corps and the European Theater. Overseeing interoperability across technical, procedural, and human domains; NATO Schooling for US personal assigned to V Corps; and Security Force Assistance across AO Victory.

COL Hosey’s civilian education includes a Master of Arts in Management and a Master of Science in Computer Science with a focus in Network Security.

His military education includes Field Artillery Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, the US. Army Command and General Staff College, Senior Service College, and the U.S. Army Data Driven Leadership program.
