First Sergeant Johnson is a native of Dothan, Alabama, and joined the Army in 2007, where he completed Infantry One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Fort Moore, Georgia. He has served in several leadership positions as an Infantryman and as a Cyber Operations Specialist after reclassification in 2015. 1SG Johnson has been married for 13 years and has three children, two sons and a daughter.

His assignments include: Rifleman/Team Leader/Squad leader, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, 3rd Infantry Regiment, The Old Guard, Fort Myer, Virginia; Squad Leader, 1-21 Infantry Battalion, S-3 Assistant Operations & Battle Staff NCO, 2nd Stryker Brigade

Combat Team, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; Cyber Operations Sergeant/Cyber Operations Supervisor 201 Cyber Protection team and Cyber Operations Chief 156 Cyber Protection Team, 1st Cyber Protection Battalion, Cyber Protection Brigade, Instructor for Headquarters & Alpha Company and First Sergeant for Bravo Company, Cyber Training Battalion, S-3 Operations NCOIC, Headquarters Branch Chief, CCoE Noncommissioned Officer Academy, Fort Eisenhower, Georgia.

1SG Johnson’s military education includes Warrior Leaders Course, Advanced Leader Course, Senior Leader Course (Distinguished Honor Graduate), Master Leaders Course (Honor Graduate), Senior Enlisted Joint Professional Military Education, Battle Staff NCO Course, Master Fitness Trainer Course, Joint Cyber Analysis Course, Common Faculty Instructor Course, Master Resiliency Trainer Course.

He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Maryland University College in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Networks and Cyber Security and graduated from the University of Alabama with a Master of Arts in Communication Studies, specializing in Organizational Leadership in 2022.

1SG Johnson’s decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (one oak leaf cluster), the Army Achievement Medal (two oak leaf cluster), Army Good Conduct Medal (5th award), the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the NCO Professional Development Ribbon with numeral 4, Army Service Ribbon, and the Overseas Service Ribbon. 1SG Johnson has earned the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Guard Identification Badge, the Expert Infantry Badge, the Basic Army Instructor Badge, the Parachutist Badge, the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (Silver).
