First Sergeant Michael A. Fernandez. Is a native of San Antonio, Texas. He enlisted in the United States Army on June 10, 1999. He attended Basic Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) training for Petroleum Supply Specialists (92F) at Fort Gregg Adams, Virginia. 1SG Fernandez re-entered the United States Army on October 18, 2008, and attended Advanced Individual Training at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland, for Utilities Equipment Repairer (91C). He later reclassified in 2012 to Electronic Warfare Specialist (17E) in Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
1SG Fernandez has served in many leadership positions, from Squad Leader to First Sergeant. His CONUS assignments include 546TH Maintenance Co., 1MEB, Fort Polk, Louisiana, HHC, 3-7TH IN BN, Fort Stewart, Georgia, HHT, 2/3RD CR, Fort Cavazos, Texas, I2CEWS, Joint Base Lewis Mcchord (JBLM), Washington, and CCoE NCOA, Fort Eisenhower, Georgia. Additionally, he has deployed to Camp Adder, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Logar Province, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, and Manbij, Syria in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.
