Sgt. 1st Class Kayvonne F. Smith

SFC Smith enlisted into the Army from Brooklyn, NY on 7 October 2004 at the age of 19. She attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, SC, and Advance Individual Training at Fort Eisenhower, GA where she was awarded the military occupational specialty of 25L, Cable Systems Installer/Maintainer.

SFC Smith previous assignments include: 304th Signal Battalion, Camp Humphreys, Korea; 270th Signal company, 18th Airborne Corps, Fort Liberty, NC; 16 TIN-E Signal Company, Fort Cavazos, TX; 304th Signal Battalion, Camp Humphreys, Korea; 369th Signal Battalion, Fort Eisenhower, GA; HHC, 1st Signal Brigade, Camp Humphreys, Korea. SFC Smith has deployed in support of Operation Iraq Surge, Operation Iraq Sovereignty, Operation New Dawn, and Operation Enduring Freedom Afghanistan

SFC Smith has held various leadership positions including Operations Sergeant, Senior Cable System Installer NCO, Training NCO, Instructor, Platoon Sergeant.
SFC Smith’s Military Education includes Combat Lifesaver Course, Communications Cable/Antenna Systems Maintainer Course, Security plus course, USAF Airlift Planner Course, Fiber Optic Course, Cadre Training Course, Communication Electronic Installers Course, Mobile Retention Training Course, Equal Opportunity Leaders Course, SHARP Course, Basic Leaders Course, Advance Leaders Course, and Senior Leaders Course.
 
SFC Smith’s awards includes the Joint Service Commendation Medal,  Army Commendation Medal (6OLC),  Army Achievement Medal (4OLC),  Army Good Conduct Medals (6th), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal (3 bronze stars), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Out Standing Volunteer Service Medal (1 Bronze Star), NCO Professional Development Ribbons (Numeral 3), Overseas Service Ribbons (Numeral 6), Joint Meritorious Unit Award (1OLC,) Senior Instructor Badge, Driver’s Badge.
