Lieutenant Colonel Demetrius D. Howard began his Army career in August 1998 as a Multichannel Transmission Systems Operator/Maintainer (31R). Following four years of distinguished enlisted service, he earned a commission as a Signal Officer in 2003 and has dedicated the last 27 years to leading and serving in the Signal Corps.
He assumed command of the 369th Signal Battalion on 26 June 2025. His diverse and challenging assignments include Platoon Leader, 67th Signal Battalion; Plans Officer, 56th Signal Battalion; Military Transition Team Signal Advisor (MiTT Team); Company Commander, Headquarters and Alpha Company, 447th Signal Battalion; Aide-de-camp to the Commander, 7th Signal Command (Theater); Battalion Executive Officer and Plans Officer, 2nd Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 101st Airborne Division; Brigade S6, 85th Civil Affairs Brigade; Cyber Watch Officer, Joint Forces Headquarters; Cyber Mission Planner, Army Cyber Command; and Deputy G6, III Armored Corps.
He previously served as the 15th Signal Brigade’s Deputy Brigade Commander. LTC Howard’s military education includes Officer Candidate School, Air Assault School, the Signal Officer Basic Officer Leaders Course, Signal Officer Captain Career Course, Company Commander and 1st Sergeant Course, the Brigade S6 Course, Air Command and Staff College. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering Technology from Grambling State University and a Master of Operational Art and Science Degree from Air Command and Staff College.
Lieutenant Colonel Howard’s service has taken him to locations such as Fort Eisenhower (Georgia), Bagram Airbase (Afghanistan), Al Rasheed (Iraq), Maxwell Air Force Base (Alabama), Fort Campbell (Kentucky), and Fort Cavazos (Texas).
