Electromagnetic Warfare Specialist - 17E

Purpose

As an Electromagnetic Warfare Specialist, you are the subject matter expert on the manipulation, control, and dominance of the electromagnetic spectrum. You will assist the commander in defeating the enemy through planning, coordination, integration, and execution of Electronic Attack. You are responsible for protecting and hardening friendly systems, processes, and personnel by developing, training, and executing Electronic Protection. You also support current and future operations by planning and performing Electromagnetic Warfare Support.

Major Duties

  • Responsible for execution and coordination of Electromagnetic Attack (EA), Electromagnetic Protection (EP), Electromagnetic Support (ES) at echelon
  • Planner of Cyberspace Electromagnetic Activities (CEMA) for CEMA section at echelons Division and above
  • Assists in preparing and evaluating interference reports and EA requests
  • Operate and maintain assigned equipment to include special Purpose Electronic Attack (SPEA) systems, Direction Finding (DF) systems, modeling and simulation tools, EW test equipment, and counter radio-controlled improvised explosive device electromagnetic warfare (CREW) systems.

  • Normal Color vision.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • ASVAB score: Surveillance & Communications (SC)
  • 105 ASVAB score: Electronics (EL)
  • 105 ASVAB score: Skilled Technical (ST)
  • High school graduate or equivalent prior to entry on active duty
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET (TS) Clearance
  • No information in military personnel, Provost Marshal, intelligence, or medical records that would prevent the granting of a security eligibility under AR 380-67 (para 2-4)
  • No record of conviction by court-martial
  • No record of conviction by a civil court for any offense other than minor traffic violations

Skill Identifiers

  • Basic computer Programming
  • High level proficiency in planning
  • Conceptualize utilization of the Electromagnetic spectrum
  • Basic understanding of global communication systems (cell towers, satellites, and microwave)
