As of 1 April 2025, All International Military Students (IMS) arriving for training at CCoE must arrive 10 days prior to course’s start date and have a laptop computer with CAC reader, or CAC reader enabled USB keyboard, or sufficient funds to purchase computer with CAC reader as the course materials alternate between in-person and online requirements.

IMS' should report as scheduled in accordance with the Invitational Travel Order (ITO) by the SAO. If student arrives before or after the date stated in the ITO, this can cause administrative and academic problems. Billeting reservations are made based on ITO arrival date, and many other in-processing schedules are also made as well. Students arriving in the United States early for any other purpose than training becomes the responsibility of their government.

SCOs are NOT advised to schedule reporting dates during the period 20 December through 1 January, or on national holidays, unless specifically directed.

International Military Students (IMS) travelling to Fort Eisenhower should arrive at the Augusta Regional Airport (Bush Field/AGS). Once a travel itinerary is received, the IMSO will ensure a representative is at the airport to provide ground transportation to Fort Eisenhower. It is the responsibility of the SCO to notify IMSO of delays or request a late arrival approval. If a representative is not present, the student should call IMSO at (706) 791-9708/9712 during duty hours for assistance. IMS arriving after duty hours should call the 442nd Signal Battalion, Staff Duty Officer at 791-8314 for transportation to Fort Eisenhower to obtain reserved quarters. There is a USO lounge should transportation be delayed. The lounge is equipped with a phone, computers, lounge chairs, TVs, complimentary drinks, and restrooms. Students should obtain a receipt for the cost of transportation if they take a taxi from the airport to Fort Eisenhower. The airport is approximately 15 miles from Fort Eisenhower.

Student should arrive with medical screening records, passport, airline ticket, biography, and any authorized reimbursable receipts.

IMSO CANNOT provide transportation to or from Atlanta International Airport.

In-processing will begin the first duty day following arrival. The IMSO shuttle will pick up students at the bus stop behind Candlewood Suites at 0830. They should have in their possession their flight itinerary from their country of origin, passports, and medical documents.
 

The daily duty uniform is the U.S. Operational Camouflage Pattern uniform. IMS should bring a minimum of three of their country`s equivalent uniforms to include boots, t-shirts and headgear. During the period from October through March, a cold weather coat will be required. A wet weather jacket would be beneficial as well. 

PHYSICAL FITNESS TRAINING IS MANDATORY FOR ALL STUDENTS ATTENDING THE SIGNAL BASIC OFFICERS LEADER COURSE AND THE SIGNAL CAPTAINS CAREER COURSE. IMS in these courses should have a minimum of two (2) Physical Training-type uniforms...shorts, T-shirts, running shoes, appropriate socks, etc. and for cold weather - sweatpants and sweatshirts. Countries that do not issue these types of uniforms will ensure that the IMS are appropriately equipped with suitable alternatives. The U.S. issued physical training uniform is available for purchase with appropriate IMSO endorsement for IMS to wear while attending courses.

Students should also bring an equivalent of the Army Service Uniform to include all awards and accoutrements as well as appropriate headgear. Only one would be required. If the country does not have a dress-type uniform, then the student should report with a black suit and tie for formal and/or semi-formal wear at events where U.S. students wear the Army Service Uniform.

All SCCC students will be required to have an Army Service Uniform for the trip to Washington D.C.

Billeting

Fort Eisenhower DOES NOT have Family Housing for students or students with dependents. Fort Eisenhower cannot provide non-availability statements for U.S. funded students to live off post. Therefore, dependents ARE NOT AUTHORIZED to accompany International Military Students scheduled for education and training classes. Students are housed in Candlewood Suites. This location provides living/dining area with private bath and a small kitchen (microwave, refrigerator, cooktop). Students whose living allowances are paid by their country will be charged $130.81 per day. Students receiving U.S. paid allowances are required to reside in Candlewood Suites and the IMSO covers the charges. Students paying their own charges must have a valid credit card on file for incidentals and pay 30 days in advance.

All IMS (both officers and enlisted) may eat in the Army dining facilities and pay the basic meal charges. The daily charge is approximately $17.60 (as of 4 February 2025)  - Breakfast, $4.40; Lunch, $7.10; and Dinner, $6.10. The dining facility is approximately .34 mile from billeting. Students on IMET funding will receive government meal rate (GMR) based on DoD Regulation 5105.38 of $28.60 per day. The Army dining facilities are not equipped to accommodate special dietary requests. There are several dining options available from commercial vendors located on post.

DRIVING RULES VARY FROM STATE TO STATE - The State of Georgia will honor a 'valid' national or international driver`s license that has an English translation with issue and expiration date printed on the license. It is recommend all IMS obtain an international driver`s license prior to arrival, if there is no English translation. If the student is authorized to travel by Privately Owned Vehicle (POV) and requires a vehicle tag, a state license must be obtained in order to register a vehicle in Georgia. This requires passport, IA-94, state temporary residential proof, and Social Security Declination Letter. (Note: NATO countries ARE NOT required to apply for IA-94, but must do so in order to obtain license.) Georgia requires evidence of adequate liability and property damage insurance issued by a U.S. insurance company before registering or operating an automobile in the State of Georgia. Operation of an automobile without proper insurance is a violation of Georgia law, which specifies immediate detention and a large fine, and may result in disciplinary action and loss of driving privileges. ALL countries sending civilians to Fort Eisenhower for training MUST assign them a military equivalent rank in SANWEB and on the ITO. This provides for Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) enrollment for any approved medical coverage and commissary/PX privileges while on temporary duty here at Fort Eisenhower. IMS Medical treatment is available at Connolly Clinic and the Eisenhower Army Medical Center, located on-post, according to the terms of the student ITO. All IMS must comply with DISCS rules for health care coverage and ITOs must be specific in coverage requirements. Dental care is provided only for emergencies  and is limited to emergency treatment only. 

Transportation to class will be provided by the IMSO in the morning. However, the IMSO cannot provide transportation to physical training in the morning or from class in the afternoon. It is the responsibility of the student to arrange transportation to physical training and back to lodging. Taxi service is available at Fort Eisenhower for a nominal fee. Candlewood Suites is located approximately two miles from the classrooms.

Climate

Winters in Georgia are short, cool/cold and rainy. There may be an occasional snow or ice storm that dissipate fairly quickly. The temperature may vary between 0 and 20 degrees C from late November through the end of March. Winters are cold enough to require warm jackets, gloves, and hats, particularly in the morning during physical training. Summers are very hot and very humid. Students should bring clothing to match the season. Rain gear is appropriate all year round.
