Lieutenants of Signal Basic Officer Leader Course (SBOLC) Class 005-25 reached a major milestone in their careers last week! The Signaleers were honored in a pinning ceremony after completing an early morning ruck march that culminated at the 442nd Signal Battalion Motor Pool. Maj. Gen. Christopher L. Eubank, Chief of Staff, U.S. Strategic Command, and Col. Julia M. Donley, U.S. Army Signal School Commandant and 43rd Chief of Signal, welcomed the lieutenants upon their completion of the ruck and participated in the pinning ceremony. The design of the Signal regimental insignia originated from a meeting of Signal Corps officers led by Maj. Alfred J. Myer, the Chief Signal Officer, in 1865. A gold eagle holds in its talons a golden baton from which descends a signal flag. The motto “Pro Patria Vigilans” – meaning “Watchful for the Country” – reflects the Signal Corps’ mission to provide and maintain vital communications. SBOLC Class 005-25 will graduate from the 16-week course on Thursday then prepare to report to their respective duty stations.
